Especially right now, as winter is approaching, it is more important than ever before that refugees, from all countries that are experiencing upheaval, get the cold weather clothing and shelter that they need to be protected from the snow and cold. These people have run from war and from mortal danger, and while many countries have opened their arms to these refugees, most do not have the resources that are necessary to protect these people in their time of need. The UN Refugee Relief Fund is set up in order to help keep people fed, clothed, and safe. This is what they’re doing this winter to help refugees:

• Putting together and distributing cold weather kits – These kits include blankets that are designed to keep people warm during a bitter winter, sleeping backs, heavy winter socks, gloves, and coats, stoves to keep tents and other makeshift homes warm, and gas to power those stoves, for both heating and cooking.

• Providing shelter to refugee families – From tents to housing units, to finding emergency housing options from willing donors, the fund is making sure that those who have left their homes have somewhere to live in the coming months.

• Receiving and transferring refugees – There are lot of logistics that go into making sure that refugees are safe and are accounted for. The UN Refugee Relief Fund partially goes towards the facilities that receive and transfer refugees.
